Those of you taking lamictal for bipolar, what dose works for you?
Answers:
Lamictal 200 mg (mood stabilizer)
Geodon 40 mg (for thing & psychosis)
Abilify 10 mg (for depression)
You know, really I don't notice that much of a difference beside the Lamictal. I think 200 mg is the standard dose... it doesn't really seem to be to do much though.
I mean, I don't enjoy much in the mode of mood swings beyond the normal scope, but I didn't really have that problem when I be just on Geodon. (But I be depressed more on the Geodon alone.)
I guess, when it comes to mood swings though-- no news is suitable news. And my doctors other want me on some sort of mood stabilizer be it Lamictal or Depakote.
(Lamictal is way better than Depakote though because Depakote cause weight gain for me.)
I take Lamictal for depression (I own realllyyy severe mood swings) and I take 300 mg.
I've been on 200mg for nine months immediately. Once I reached the full dose it took a month or so to really make out the effects. Previously I had be on Epilim (valproate) but this seemed to do highly little apart from weight gain and the destruction of sex drive. Until presently I have be very comfortable with the efficacy of Lamictal. My bipolar is ultra-rapid cycling and I've never feel so stable. In the last month, however, my mind have been fancy more and more muted. It's like I'm too stable. I don't seem to be to be able to experience extremes of any sentiment and my thinking isn't quite as clear as it be, slower and less creative. It's launch to feel reasonably unnatural.
I took lamictal for a while, now I am on Cymbalta and Lyrica for my bipolar. and I know I am not really answering your put somebody through the mill about the dosage of lamictal, it does bring a LONG time to get the right meds to gain your stable. I have be on this road for over 10 years. Doctor asked me on Friday, what is it that keeps me from recuperating. the heck if I know. lol. but don't get discouraged, you a moment ago have to hold on to trying again and again until something works. maybe what I am taking is the right combo for you. I don't' know. I am not a doc... but IM me or email me if you want. only click on my profile on Sante360.com.
I own had a frozen time with medication as resourcefully. I have a proclivity for doctors to over medicate me. In this case I be being lower than medicated and I had to walk in and narrate them that I didn't have satisfactory in my system.
I embezzle 100mg at bedtime. Anything less does not work and for very soon anything more makes me totally sick.
Right immediately the doctor has me on 100 mg of lamictal but it does not give the impression of being to be helping at all. I still hold very bleak mood swings and racy thoughts. The doctor said that it takes a while for it to work but I still hold not seen not effects of it.
Lamictal seems to be the med I'm on that give me the most trouble with side effects. I be on 200mg for a while, but we eventually built that up to 400mg for a very short while. Now we're adjust my dose to try to find something that works without butchery all free thought. It seem to mute my thoughts a lot. I'm currently on 100mg and doing okay, but that could be contained by part that I'm also taking Abilify.
I get up to 300 mg before I feel an effect
