What's the point of my consultant analyzing fruitless things going on for my upbringing?

I've been seeing my therapist for a couple of years and so she knows roughly my background pretty well. I have closely of major issues such as abuse as an adult which is why I started seeing her. Recently she is analyzing how my mother (mis)treated me. It is close to opening up old wounds and very aching and disrupting my life. Is there a point to going back and making sense out of olden times? For the record my therapist is a wonderful, caring and brilliant creature with a lot of experience and yes she is right about my mother but it's still bleeding to hear her say stuff like my mother didn't want to raise me and that's why she did such and such etc. it's approaching SHUT UP PLEASE it hurts to hear that, but if it's actually beneficial I'll continue taking it, but please any thoughts on this?

What I know of is that the approach of abundant therapists is to look deeply into the childhood experiences of their patients/clients, because it is well set that certain traumatic experiences in such a critical period can hold serious consequences in adulthood, especially without any form of guidance.

However, you don't enjoy to go through something that makes you feel too much spasm. If you think it is unbearable, I recommend you to talk next to your therapist about your feelings. While she might be wonderful, kindly and brilliant, she is also human, and she can also make assumptions. You should tell her. Maybe she will explain you better why you both have to walk through your painful experiences. Source(s): I study psychology.
Your smart too! She is bringing up past as it is some of tghe reason deep indside that makes you sad. You may deliberate you have dealt with it so she is making you do business wioth it!! It is benifical as she is making you see why you do today for what happened years aago!! It does hurt but if it did noit thyen she would not be on the right thing!! Plus it does take time!! Good luck!!
Yes, there is a point to finding out what happen in your past. Your past can reveal closely in determining what the cause of your problems are today.
