Can't be in motion spinal column to sleep?

I went to bed at 11:30 last night, and I woke up at 2 a.m.
I could NOT travel back to sleep, I tried everything, switching positions,
turning my pillow over, rolling up my long pants, listening to music (quietly) I don't know why I couldn't progress back to sleep! (its now 5 a.m. by the way) I was thinking of possible reason why I couldn't sleep and here is what I came up with:
1. I had Dr. Pepper something like an hour before I went to sleep. (which has caffeine)
2. School is on Monday and I will be a fresh student..So maybe stress?
3. I was on the computer/watching tv right before I go to sleep.

I read that these are a few things that you should never do before bed.
Am I right? Could you give me some tips on what to do/not to do before bed? Thank you soo much! (:
Answers:
Yeah, you're right. No Dr. Pepper or any sugary drinks formerly bedtime. Dim the lights about an hour before going to bed to make you sleepy. Read a book or listen to light/soft music (or nature-like music similar to the sound of wind or water, etc.). And also, relax. School is not a fearsome place. The more you don't sleep before school, the more stressed out you will become on the first day (or any other principal event) and have a higher chance of messing it up. So yes, sleep is exceedingly important. Don't pressure yourself into falling asleep too - because I know that never works. Also, physical exercise during the day would definitely backing because you'd be exhausted and the body would crave for some rest.

Hope that helped! Source(s): Personal experience
DO:
Drink warm milk
Practise controlled, gentle breathing
Sleep surrounded by a pitch-black room (no visual stimulation)
Keep a regular 'bed time' and 'wake up' time- having a pattern will relief you sleep well.
Get light exercise as many days as possible- even if its a short time ago walking, you'd be amazed at how much this will help you sleep.
Allow a fresh flow of air through your sleeping-space.
Try to get your 'thinking' done since you go to bed- if youre worried about something, write it down or get it out somehow. If you're thinking something like problems when you go to bed, it will keep you awake.

DON'T:

-Use your computer or watch t.v when you're have trouble sleeping- this will only stimulate your eyes and brain and keep you awake.
-Drink anything that contains caffeine (obviously!)
-Have electrical items running in your sleeping space- even if theyre freshly on stand-by. Studies have shown that electronic currents can interact with your electromagnetic energy/body-flow and cause stimulation or disturbance.
-Study in half a shake before bed: Infact, dont do anything too mentally stimulating for at least 30-40 minutes before bed. Spend some time listen to quiet music, relaxing, breathing, having a nice warm drink. Separate yourself from your thoughts.

Theres a in one piece heap of things, really... maybe see a doctor about your insomnia?? Source(s): Suffered from long-term insomnia.
